Why Instruct a Cell Site Expert?

Instructing a Cell Site Expert enables you to understand call data evidence clearly and reliably. An Expert can assess the data, explain what it does and does not show and provide an independent Expert opinion.

What is Cell Site Analysis?

Cell Site Analysis is the use of mobile phone network data to show where a phone had the potential to be at a certain time. By reviewing Call Data Records (CDR’s) you can identify which phone mast and cell a phone was using during calls, texts or data sessions. One of our competent and experienced Reporting Practitioners can use this information to provide a picture of the phone’s possible location and movement.

What is a Radio Frequency Survey?

An RF survey is a technique using specialist equipment to record the radio frequency landscape at a given location at a given time. Used in conjunction with CDR’s it strengthens the information that can be used to illustrate a phones potential location and movement. It is best practice to undertake a survey as soon as practicable after an offence to mitigate for network changes.

What is Potential Co-Location?

Cell site analysis techniques enable Reporting Practitioners / Expert Witnesses to assess if two or more mobile phones had the potential to have been in the same location at the same time or could have travelled together. This can provide critical information to strengthen your investigation and can be used to confirm or deny potential co-location or attribution of a secondary handset.
